Future Street is thrilled to announce the widespread success of the “Pizzabelly,” a cleverly modified Bigbelly Element designed specifically for pizza box recycling. Initially trialed by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council as a beta project, the Pizzabelly has quickly become a favourite across Ireland, with over 10 local councils now featuring these innovative units. The enthusiasm for this eco-friendly initiative has even crossed the Irish Sea, with several installations popping up in the UK.
The genius of the Pizzabelly lies in its specially designed aperture, which perfectly accommodates pizza boxes—a notoriously tricky item to recycle due to their size and residual grease. By providing a dedicated and easily accessible slot for these boxes, the Pizzabelly not only simplifies recycling but also significantly reduces contamination in other recycling streams.
This initiative is part of Future Street’s commitment to developing targeted solutions that address specific waste management challenges. The success of the Pizzabelly highlights the potential for specialised recycling stations to enhance sustainability efforts while meeting the practical needs of communities.
As more councils and communities recognise the benefits of the Pizzabelly, Future Street continues to innovate, helping to make our environments cleaner, greener, and more sustainable—one pizza box at a time.
